Prominent and oversized ears or congenital deformities of the ears can be corrected with aesthetic surgery. Surgical reshaping process of the ear is called otoplasty. Unlike other aesthetic operations, ear surgery is usually preferred in childhood. This is because of two main reasons. Prominent ear patients can avoid years of teasing because of the appearance of their ears, and the ear cartilage (the supporting tissue) is much more pliable in these ages, and thus easier to mold. But, this surgery can be performed in an adult age.
During the initial consultation, the patient’s compliance with the operation and expectations are assessed. Detailed information about the operation is given.
