Breast reconstruction surgery can help those who had lost their breasts due to breast cancer, injury, or congenital deformities. Breast reconstruction is an important part of breast cancer treatment for women. Whether your breast cancer treatment involved partial or total mastectomy, there are procedures we can do. It’s my purpose to reconstruct a breast that not only looks good in a bra, but also looks good when you’re not wearing your clothes.
There are two main methods for breast repair: breast repair with silicone implants or breast repair with the patient’s own tissues. Commonly used procedure with your own tissues is the TRAM Flap (transverse rectus abdominus muscle) procedure. This procedure involves the removal of a flap of skin from the abdomen and it is used to replace lost breast tissue. Another reconstructive option with your own tissues is to use tissue from the back (the latissimus dorsi flap ) which provides good coverage over breast implants.
